Flower Care

Please follow our simple guide to prolong the vase life of your beautiful flower bouquet.
  • In preparation for your flowers: Clean vase thoroughly. Fill with water to a high level with room temperature water and add the correct amount of flower food.
  • Check the water level daily. Water level should be kept high to promote long lasting flowers.
  • Remove any leaves that is below the waterline as this could promote bacterial growth.
  • Re-cut stems every few days. Using a sharp knife or scissors, cut off, at an angle, about 1 inch from the bottom of stem. Do not bash or pierce the stem as this destroys the water vessels needed for water absorption.
  • Most flowers prefer a cool spot. Temperature in the range of 18 -22 degrees Celsius is best. Avoid placing your flowers in direct sunlight, above radiators, under ceiling fans, or near drafts. Dehydration is the main cause of short vase life of flowers.
  • Avoid placing your flowers near ripening fruit, which releases small amounts of ethylene gas that can cause your flowers to age prematurely.
  • Change water immediately when the water in the vase is yellow and cloudy. This is a sign of bacteria growing in the water. Bacteria can clog the stems and shorten the life of your beautiful flowers.
